Twistlocks are mechanical locking devices used to secure ISO containers during maritime transport. They engage directly with the container’s corner castings and prevent vertical and horizontal movement caused by sea motion, wind loads, and dynamic forces on board container and ConRo vessels.
Container Technics NV supplies a comprehensive range of certified container twistlocks designed for safe and efficient cargo securing in demanding maritime environments.
Our twistlocks are engineered for long service life, high stack loads, and compatibility with standard ISO container systems.
Twistlocks form a critical part of the container lashing system. By locking containers together or securing them to the vessel’s deck structure, twistlocks ensure stable container stacks during loading, transport, and unloading operations. Correct twistlock selection is essential to maintain container alignment, distribute forces efficiently, and comply with international maritime safety standards. All Container Technics twistlocks are designed for use with ISO container corner castings and are suitable for deployment on container ships, ConRo vessels, and other cargo vessels using containerized transport systems.
Container Technics offers one of the widest in‑stock ranges of twistlocks, covering all commonly used designs in maritime transport.
Manual twistlocks are widely used for securing containers in fixed positions or intermediate stack locations. They are robust, simple to operate, and suitable for a wide range of vessel configurations and cargo securing requirements.
Semi‑automatic twistlocks are designed to increase operational efficiency by reducing manual handling during loading and unloading. They automatically lock when containers are stacked and can be released quickly, improving turnaround times and safety for lashing crews.
Bottom and U‑frame twistlocks are used in combination with dedicated vessel foundations such as dovetail or U‑frame fittings. These twistlocks transfer vertical and lateral forces directly into the ship’s structure, ensuring reliable container securing under heavy sea conditions.
Our twistlocks are manufactured in accordance with applicable international standards and can be supplied with certification from major classification societies. Each design is engineered to withstand high stack weights and dynamic loads, making them suitable for both standard container operations and specialized cargo securing applications.
Thanks to our strategic stock locations in Antwerp, Dubai, Houston, and Shanghai, Container Technics can supply twistlocks quickly to vessels worldwide—whether for planned maintenance, urgent replacements, or complete lashing system outfitting.

The CONTECH® T-1 is a manual intermediate twistlock designed to securely connect two stacked ISO containers during maritime transport. This container twistlock is used at intermediate positions within container stacks to maintain alignment and prevent vertical separation and horizontal movement under dynamic sea loads.
The T‑1 twistlock is engineered for reliable performance in container and ConRo vessel operations, offering a robust locking mechanism compatible with standard ISO container corner castings.

The CONTECH® T‑5 is a semi‑automatic container twistlock designed to improve efficiency and safety during container handling operations. This twistlock automatically locks when containers are stacked and can be released without manual access to the top of the container, reducing handling time for lashing crews.
The T‑5 twistlock is widely used on modern container and ConRo vessels where fast turnaround times and secure container connections are required, while remaining fully compatible with ISO container systems.

The CONTECH® B‑55A is a bottom U‑frame container twistlock designed for 55‑degree foundation systems on container vessels. This twistlock secures ISO containers by engaging with dedicated U‑frame or dovetail foundations, providing controlled force transfer and reliable container securing.
Featuring a design optimized for efficient insertion and removal, the B‑55A twistlock is suitable for vessels requiring dependable bottom locking solutions during frequent loading and unloading operations.

The CONTECH® dovetail or U-frame side twistlock B-57 is a bottom twistlock used in combination with a dovetail or U-frame FR-34, FR-34BQ (elongated) or a double FR-35B/A of 55 degrees to secure the corner castings of containers on board of a vessel. The twistlock is to be used when the sliding direction of the dovetail foundation is rotated 90° to the longitudinal direction of the container
